One of our recommended tours starts at the base station of the Joylife houseboats in Mettlach, the ceramic town, from where you can start your relaxing\/exciting journey of discovery on the Saar River. First, a detour past Serrig in the direction of Saarburg as a wine and bell-founding town invites you to a first excursion and shore leave. Or head towards Saarbr\u00fccken and the unique Saarschleife (U-Turn) and bestseller on Instagram. The Saarschleife treetop path awaits you, where you can marvel at the Saarschleife from a height of 42 meters. The route continues in the narrow valley with densely wooded rocky slopes, foothills of the Hunsr\u00fcck to Saarlouis, the secret capital of the Saarland, whose layout dates back to the Sun King Louis XIV. You should definitely plan a longer stay there. This is followed by a section of the river characterized by historical and modern industry with the World Heritage Site, V\u00f6lklingen Ironworks, which is absolutely worth seeing.
