The minimum age for chartering a Joylife houseboat is 18 years.

Accessibility

Briefing

Pets

In exceptional cases and after consultation with us, you are welcome to bring a pet on board. We charge 150 € for a pet.

Do I need to know how to swim to ride on a boat?
No, that’s what we have a boat for. But should you feel unsafe when you are in
leaving the indoor area, please put on a life jacket. Also children is always
to put on a life jacket in the outdoor area.
At what age can children go boating?

In any case, children of a certain age have fun on the boat. The question is

years, as is well known, need all the attention and therefore we recommend that a
permanent caregiver can take care of a child. For children who have already

Insurance

Equipment

Bed linen, towels etc.

The following products are available on the boats: Bed linen, kitchen towels, dish towels, dishwashing liquid, sponge cloth, toilet paper (here we need, due to the onboard sewage treatment plant, special toilet paper) and hand soap.

Bow and stern thruster

Our houseboats are equipped with bow and stern thrusters. You can use this to steer the houseboat to the right (to starboard) or left (to port), allowing you to maneuver without the houseboat being underway. These bow and stern thrusters are particularly useful when locking and mooring. However, the houseboat can also be driven well without bow and stern thrusters.

Kitchen

On all boats is for you: dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, cooking utensils, sink with hot and cold water and electric stove with hotplates. Also awaiting you is a microwave, a special wine refrigerator, a dishwasher, a washer/dryer in combination, and a Nespresso coffee maker.

TV & online access

The TV with all entertainment programs integrated in multi-media system is included. Internet television is possible via WiFi. However, there is no guarantee of reception on all sections of the route.

Radios

There are no radios on the houseboats. Communication with the locks is done with your cell phone.

Life jackets

You do not need to bring your own life jackets. We have vests for adults on board. For your children we have extra life jackets at the rental station, which we adjust to the weight of your child. Our staff provides all guests with life jackets at the base station.

Sunscreen

Each houseboat has a sunshade that can be placed on deck.

Sockets

We have enough 230 volt sockets on board. Electricity on board The on-board voltage is 230 volts. All our houseboats are equipped with shore power connection. This means that when you dock and connect shore power, the onboard batteries are automatically charged.

Heating & Air Conditioning – Building Services

Our boats are equipped with air conditioning, which either heats or cools depending on your needs. As a result of the fact that we have a water treatment plant and additionally a fresh water tank with 800 liters on board, a self-sufficient operation is guaranteed.

Arrival and departure days

You can pick up your houseboat at our station as follows:

It is best to be on site a little earlier. It is important to be calm and attentive for the houseboat familiarization. Afterwards you will have enough time for shopping on site.

Houseboat delivery

We will be waiting for you at the base station. Here we need from you:

    • the accounting document
    • Identity card
    • Your original boat license, if available
    • the deposit in cash if not paid 30 days before check-in
    • At most, final payment of the booking in cash if it is not paid in time before the
      trip has been received by our bank

You will receive from us:

    • the handover protocol with an inventory list of the houseboat. This
      you sign and in connection with this we acknowledge that the deposit for the
      Houseboat was deposited. The handover from the houseboat takes place with filled
      Diesel tank. Upon return, the differential filling quantity will be charged.
    • the board book & iPad: Here you will find important details about the cruising area, the technology,

What should I take on the houseboat?

As a suggestion of what you can take on board as basic equipment, we have created the Joylife packing list. You will receive this in good time before the start of your vacation with all travel documents and information material about the Saar and the Saarland by mail and e-mail.

Trip payment

You pay for your vacation in advance by bank transfer. 50% payable within 10 days of booking confirmation and 50% payable 30 days before the start of the rental period. The deposit must also be paid by bank transfer within 30 days.

Parking spaces

Parking is available free of charge in the immediate vicinity (approx. 350m) of the base station. These are provided to us by the municipality of Mettlach.

Driving restrictions

Locks

Berth reservation

Accident

Which extras can I book additionally?

Basically everything concerning the Joylife houseboat is included in the rental price. The lifestyle offers, stand-up paddle board, e-scooter and folding bike can also be booked. If you would also like to book special excursions, visits to sights, concerts or culinary experiences in restaurants in advance of your vacation, we will be happy to advise and book them in cooperation with Saarland Tourismus. These extras are not included in the rental price of the houseboat and are to be paid separately.

Travel cancellation insurance

If you would like to insure your deposit, travel cancellation or trip interruption costs, your liability as skipper of the boat, foreign travel health or accident insurance, you can do so with our insurance partner Pantaenius. Berth costs

Can I go swimming directly from the houseboat?

Saar is a federal waterway and large ships also sometimes pass by. Can a crib be provided for my baby?

If you need a baby crib, we ask you to bring a travel cot. However, please note that space on the houseboat is limited and a travel cot may take up an open space or passageway.
